Therese Marais
I’m Therese Marais, a dually qualified Audiologist and Speech Therapist. This dual training gives me a uniquely holistic perspective on hearing care—one that goes beyond measuring hearing and focuses on how the brain understands sound in real life.
In audiology we look at how the ears detect sound, while my training in speech therapy explored how the brain interprets sound, speech, and meaning.
This combined training means I don’t simply measure hearing levels. I assess how effectively sound is processed, the mental effort required to listen, and the underlying reasons so many people say, “I can hear, but I still can’t understand.”
This perspective is particularly important for those experiencing difficulty hearing in noise, listening fatigue, tinnitus, or auditory processing challenges. Many people perform well in quiet test rooms yet struggle in real-world environments such as restaurants, meetings, classrooms, or family gatherings. In these settings, successful communication depends on the seamless partnership between the ears and the brain—and technology alone is often not enough.

My dual expertise allows me to identify auditory processing challenges more accurately, understand the cognitive load behind listening, support children and adults with evidence-based strategies, and tailor hearing and tinnitus care to improve real-world communication—not just test results.
Louie Naouri
Louie is a fully qualified Audiologist with a professional background in Sound Engineering—a combination that gives him a highly refined understanding of how sound behaves, how technology shapes it, and how the human ear perceives it.
Where audiology focuses on hearing ability, sound engineering brings deep insight into acoustics, signal processing, frequency shaping, and spatial sound. This dual expertise allows Louie to approach hearing care with both clinical insight and technical precision.
Louie doesn’t simply fit hearing aids to manufacturer’s settings – he uses best practices in fine-tuning aids for each individual. Subtle adjustments in frequency balance, gain, and output can dramatically change listening comfort, clarity, and naturalness, particularly in complex environments. This makes his approach especially valuable for people who struggle in background noise, are sensitive to sharp or loud sounds, rely heavily on speech clarity for work or study, or require highly customised solutions.
Louie is a strong advocate for Real Ear Measurements (REM), the gold standard for hearing aid verification. His engineering mindset places great importance on measuring sound where it truly matters—inside the ear canal—rather than relying on generic settings or estimates. This ensures accurate amplification, comfortable loudness, improved speech understanding, and more consistent long-term outcomes.
Beyond his technical skill, Louie is known for his calm, patient-centred manner. He takes time to explain results, demonstrate technology, and ensure clients feel confident and supported throughout their care journey.

Louie shares Holistic Hearing Solutions’ belief that hearing care is about more than devices—it is about communication, connection, and quality of life. His blend of technical mastery and thoughtful care is a key part of what defines the clinic’s holistic approach.

Patients are saying…
In this interview Connie recommends Holistic Hearing Solutions because “Therese seems to be able to analyse it better, and not tell you wonderful stories … but tells you exactly how it is… She is very easy to talk to, I like her, and you can tell her everything… She really listens and gets to know really what I need.
Morris says before, when he and his family would go out, he felt isolated and embarrased. His family would say things and he would not know what it was. Now, with hearing aids, things are going very well. Louie’s expertise was key. He showed me how to use and to maintain the hearing aids.
